June 13, 2010 - June 17, 2010

Background of the LDI:
One of the most exciting programs of the CCCU has been the emergence of the Leadership Development Institute (LDI), a multi-year project to strengthen the academic leadership of Christian higher education.

The CCCU and APU will offer one Leadership Development Institute that involves both men and women from June 13-17, 2010. The LDI is intended to identify and equip individuals who have been gifted and called by God to serve as leaders in Christian higher education, primarily as future chief academic officers and presidents.

The 2010 LDI Program and Benefits:

The faculty of APU’s Doctoral Programs in Higher Education and other Resource Team members will serve as presenters and facilitators of the 2010 LDI program. Based on the application process outlined below, we anticipate involving 18-20 emerging leaders for participation in the Institute to be offered next June. Participation in the 2010 LDI includes the following benefits:

  • Launches a year-long leadership development program that begins with the June 13-17 Institute at Cedar Springs and includes an individually-tailored “shadowing” experience with a mentor on another CCCU campus
  • Establishes professional networking with current and emerging leaders
  • Immerses participants in the cutting-edge leadership literature and research
  • Introduces participants to strengths-based leadership and team-building
  • Includes a one-on-one meeting with a Resource Team member to outline a year-long Professional Development Plan
  • Provides opportunities to interact about Leadership Lessons, Case Studies, and Best Practices from within and beyond higher education

Criteria for 2010 LDI Applicants:

Preference will be given to applicants who: (1) hold a doctorate or are near completion of a doctorate; (2) are recognized as “up-and- comers” with demonstrated leadership skills and the potential for future cabinet-level leadership; (3) provide evidence of increasing levels of leadership responsibility within and/or beyond higher education; and (4) are recommended for participation in the 2010 LDI by a current or previous cabinet-level leader.
