Eight CCCU Institutions Recognized as Outstanding Workplaces

July 21, 2016
WASHINGTON – Eight institutions that are part of the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities were recognized in The Chronicle of Higher Education’s annual “Great Colleges to Work For,” with four receiving additional recognition as “the best of the best” within their size divisions.

Abilene Christian University, Baylor University, College of the Ozarks, John Brown University, Life Pacific College, Oral Roberts University, Regent University and Roberts Wesleyan College were among the 93 colleges and universities recognized in the Chronicle’s ninth annual list.

Survey participants rated their respective institutions in each of 12 categories: collaborative governance; compensation and benefits; confidence in senior leadership; diversity; facilities, workspace and security; job satisfaction; professional and career development programs; respect and appreciation; supervisor or department chair relationship; teaching environment; tenure clarity and process; and work-life balance.

As in past years, two- and four-year institutions were evaluated separately, as well as divided by size of the institution’s total undergraduate and graduate enrollment: small (2,999 or fewer students), medium (3,000 to 9,999 students) or large (more than 10,000 students).

Within each size division, 10 four-year institutions and four two-year colleges were named to the survey’s Honor Roll, which recognized those institutions that were cited most often across the 12 categories, making them “the best of the best,” according to the Chronicle. Baylor University, College of the Ozarks, John Brown University and Roberts Wesleyan College were among the 42 institutions who received this recognition.

The survey was once again administered by ModernThink LLC, a management-consulting firm based in Delaware, which consulted with a panel of higher-education experts to customize the survey for unique college issues.

A full summary of the report can be found at the Chronicle’s website.
