Statement About Orlando Shooting

June 13, 2016
WASHINGTON – The following is an official statement from CCCU President Shirley V. Hoogstra regarding the mass shooting that took place in Orlando on June 12, 2016:

“Today, the CCCU mourns the tragic loss of life that occurred yesterday in Orlando. Hatred against any individual or group is abhorrent and grieves our Heavenly Father in whose image we are all created. Our hearts go out to those who feel even more vulnerable in the wake of this senseless attack. The CCCU 'weeps with those who weep.' (Romans 12)
“May the families and friends of the victims, and the broader LGBT community, feel the love and presence of God in their time of grief, and may we continue to work together to promote peaceful dialogue among all on our campuses and in our communities. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.”
