WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Council for Christian Colleges & Universities celebrates the more than 45 member and affiliate institutions who have signed “Yellow Ribbon” participation agreements with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, which provide financial aid and services to returning veterans wanting to continue their education.
“We are pleased with the strong showing of support by Council institutions participating in the United States Department of Veteran’s Affairs ‘Yellow Ribbon’ Program. This program plays a critical role in serving our returning veterans as they prepare for the next chapter in their careers. We also see our membership’s participation in this program as a wonderful expression of the role of Christ-centered higher education serving our society,” said Dr. Paul R. Corts, president of the CCCU.
As part of the Post 9/11 G.I. Bill, private colleges and universities who participate in the “Yellow Ribbon” program are paid the amount up to the highest undergraduate state institution with that college’s respective state, plus up to half of the percentage of charges from the private institution. The program goes into effect August 1, 2009.
