May 23, 2023 (WASHINGTON, DC) – After encouraging active Christian engagement in the American political system since 1976, the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities will no longer be operating the American Studies Program (ASP).
The changing nature of the higher education landscape has impacted the American Studies Program. Campuses are now better equipped to assist and prepare students for new realities and have expanded their own off-campus programs to meet the needs of current and future generations.
The ASP program has been a blessing to the CCCU, educating over 3,000 students since 1976, integrating faith and learning while living and working in Washington, D.C. We would like to extend our deep gratitude to all who have made this program successful. We are especially grateful to the staff members who faithfully taught, mentored our students and guided them with professional networking opportunities. There are decades of stories that reveal how invaluable this program has been to individual students and campuses. We celebrate the stories of ASP alumni whose experiences instilled a commitment of lifelong civic engagement and shalom.
